Berkeley Connect welcomes students to a new semester
Berkeley Connect started off the fall semester with lively welcomes for new and returning students alike. In the program’s second semester, over 1300 students have enrolled! This semester, Berkeley Connect is excited to be adding an African American Studies program in conjunction with the Ethnic Studies program, as well as many new events and programs for students. We also welcome new faculty directors of Berkeley Connect in History and English: Professors Victoria Frede and Kathleen Donegan, respectively.
Hundreds of students attended Berkeley Connect’s welcome events, gathering in rooms–and on lawns–across campus.
At each event, Berkeley Connect faculty and graduate student mentors introduced the program to enthusiastic students and discussed the goal of the program – to create close-knit intellectual communities on this large campus. Students got to meet their mentors and the other students in their small groups for the first time, discussing everything from future goals to favorite television shows! You could see that community-building begins on day one.
